The country’s mentor scheme was suspended
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has given immediate orders to the Delhi Government to stop the mentor scheme of the country. It is being raised that potential perpetrators may misbehave with children through this scheme. This scheme was started by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on 11 October 2022. Through this scheme the students of government schools of Delhi were to be provided guidance on career options by successful citizens in their respective fields. A notice has been issued by the commission to the Delhi government. In which it has been asked to provide compliance report with supporting documents within 7 days.
NCPCR has expressed the possibility that children may be put in danger through this scheme. Because this scheme connects children with unknown persons. The first notice in this regard was given to the Delhi government on 7 December 2022. The Delhi government answered the questions on 3 January 2022. On January 11, 2022, again a notice has been issued by NCPCR to the Delhi Government in which NCPCR has directed the Delhi Government to discontinue the scheme till all the loopholes are removed.

The country’s mentor scheme has been launched by the Delhi government from 11 October 2022 in all government schools in Delhi. This scheme was earlier launched in pilot mode only in some government schools. Now it will be conducted in all government schools of Delhi. Guidance can be provided to the children of class 9th, 10th and 11th by talking on phone only for 10-15 minutes daily by the mentor.
